What is General Dentistry?
General dentistry is the most common form of dentistry practiced around the world. Most dentists are general dentists and have been professionally trained and licensed to practice dentistry. Some of the common aspects associated with general dentistry are examining client’s teeth, reviewing dental histories, and preparing treatment plans based on individual needs. Dentists are an essential part in maintaining good oral health and ensuring your teeth last a lifetime; it’s our duty to provide you with all of the treatment options and educate clients about maintaining good oral health for the rest of their lives.
Filings
Identifying dental decay and treating it is a significant part of general dentistry. Not only is it our job to determine the health of your teeth, but it is our job to make sure any issues that arise are quickly resolved before they become more serious. Tooth decay is brought on by an excess of tartar, which develops when plaque is not removed from teeth rapidly enough. Over time, tartar can lead to infections, bacteria build up, and even tooth loss. Placing fillings to stop the spread of decay is a common treatment performed in our offices and dental offices around the world. Filings are quick and easy to place, and they can save your teeth from falling out or being removed.
Tooth Extractions
Sometimes teeth need to be removed to prepare for future dental procedures, such as dental implants or dentures. If clients don’t care for their teeth properly, tooth extraction might be necessary to remove a damaged or decaying tooth. Other times, teeth need to be removed to make room for new teeth that are coming in, or if the client has been involved in an accident or experienced trauma to their mouth area. Tooth extractions are fairly simple to perform, and most teeth can be removed in our office with the aid of anesthetic. We make every effort to save a tooth before having to remove it due to decay or injury; but if a tooth needs to be removed, we’ll ensure a comfortable experience for our clients.
Examinations and X-Rays
Regular visits to our office is an important part of keeping your teeth healthy. During your regular check-ups, your teeth will be thoroughly and professionally cleaned by one of our highly trained and skilled hygienists, and your mouth will be examined for signs of infection, decay or other issues that could cause you some trouble in the future. We’ll take x-rays each time you visit our clinic to maintain a record of your oral health and history, and you’ll be seen by one of our dentists who will interpret your x-rays and discuss your treatment options if necessary.
Dentures
We help clients decide if dentures are right for them, and we manage their year-to-year care of their dentures in collaboration with them. We’ll help clients understand the importance of having a full set of teeth that function properly and prepare them for the procedures that need to be done before dentures can be fitted, such as having teeth extracted. We’ll walk you through the process from start to finish and ensure your oral health is maintained for years to come. There have been many advancements made in the dental industry related to dentures, bridges, implants, and more.
Prevention and Education
One of the most important roles we play is in educating our clients to understand the importance of maintaining good oral health. We work with every client to determine their treatment plans and provide customized solutions for their dental needs. We’ll even show you how to properly brush your teeth to prevent decay and pesky tartar from building up on your teeth.
